Parmelee Man Sentenced for Burglary and Resisting a Federal Officer

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Parmelee, South Dakota, man charged with First Degree Burglary and Resisting a Federal Officer was sentenced on September 4, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange.  Ty Syro Yellow Eyes, a/k/a Ty Murray, age 19, was sentenced to 6 months in custody, 6 months of home confinement, 4 years of supervised release, $9,576.36 in restitution, and a $125 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

The conviction stems from an incident that took place on January 20, 2012, when Yellow Eyes broke into the Rosebud Dormitory and took property that belonged to the dormitory.  Yellow Eyes stole a vehicle and later eluded officers who attempted to stop and apprehend him.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.

Yellow Eyes was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.
